Teaching & Coaching
Mind-body skills for self care and community care
Teaching and coaching give me the opportunity to share knowledge and skills outside of the context of physical therapy sessions. The perspective I bring to this work comes from a long career as a physical therapist, combined with training in public health and somatic practices. I take all the insights and wisdom I’ve gathered and put them into lessons and programs for anyone to access.
Through this work I am committed to sharing a big picture perspective on health and healing. This approach connects the dots between social circumstances, physiology and health. I can guide individuals or groups through a process of experiential learning and skill-building to help people discover what’s possible in their body-mind-world. I’m here to share it with you if you’re feeling pulled to dive in.
* Teaching and coaching services are not based on a physical therapy evaluation or diagnosis. Physical therapy services may include some of these teachings but these teachings are not the equivalent of physical therapy interventions.
Here are some of the things I can help with:
Healing
Support on your journey, wherever you’re at, with perspectives, practices and skills that can help you navigate the terrain of chronic illness, pain or disability.
Birthing
Coaching and support during pregnancy, birth, and post-partum to facilitate a comfortable pregnancy, an empowered birth, and a nurturing post-partum period.
Parenting
Support for parents navigating concerns around child motor development, sensory processing, self/co-regulation, pain management and coping. A little bit of neuroscience can go a long way in understanding what’s going on with kids and what they might need.
Helping
Training for health care providers, advocates, parents, teachers or others who are providing care and support for people with pain, disability, stress or nervous system dysregulation.
